Many expats on Roatan are retirees and some continue to do what they were doing in their home country… while others arrive on our shores hoping to fulfill their dreams.
One reason obviously, is our paradise-like climate and the Bay Islands’ natural beauty… but there is also the promise of opportunity.
Think about this… if you need it here, others do as well.
Mathew Fleming Stephenson, a noted Georgia miner and geologist, coined the phrase “There is gold in them thar hills”… and Roatan has quite a few hills.
Don’t get me wrong, Roatan will not gift you with a million dollars… but the island lifestyle will motivate you to embrace change.
And yes, you can really enjoy life, once you’re far away from the proverbial rat race.
After years of traveling the globe as a salesman, I finally quit and moved to Roatan.
Since then I’ve authored articles for a magazine, taught third graders about rocks and minerals, started a rock ‘n roll radio station, managed a boutique hotel and restaurant…
And today, I’m a real estate agent, helping others realize their dreams. I did all of this after the age of 50!
Living on Roatan can offer you the chance to do something you’ve always wanted to do.
That’s not easy to say in many parts of the first world.
Whatever you’re passionate about… from crafting… to baking… to opening a restaurant… to repairing things for folks… you can find your niche here.
Necessity is the mother of invention!

My mother always used to say… “Idle hands are the devil’s playground.”
You can do as much or as little as you want here and be happy. It’s certainly been true for me.
I firmly believe you can teach an old dog new tricks… and if you have a little courage, the ‘reinvention of you’ can become reality.
